Batter Up!

I do not want to jinx it but... I feel like the nice weather is finally here to stay!  Which means PE is venturing outdoors to start our baseball/softball unit! 

Like every unit - we always start with the basics - which for me is SAFETY!  We will be swinging bats for the next couple weeks, so that is something that has to be done cautiously and carefully. 

After our initial safety talk, which will make many reappearances, we move onto batting practice!  With how I set up our batting practice, we also get to work on some position vocabulary.  The students have to take turns by rotating through the positions. 

• Outfielder goes to Infielder
• Infielder goes to Batter
• Batter goes to Catcher
• Catcher rotates to the Outfield

This way, no one gets skipped, they get many turns, we learn where to stand and what to do at each position.
Next week we will use these positions and this rotation to play a game we call "Bonker Ball!"
