Building in Pre-K

Preschoolers participated in a 4 week unit on buildings. In the block center students not only built block designs, but they had to be an architect and make plans for their building. The first step was deciding what to build. They then talked out their plans with a teacher and decided the materials they would need. There were 3 different types of blocks to pick from and tools and hard hats to use while building. After building they had to go back and draw a picture of what they built, which was a tricky task for Pre-K students! It required a great deal of fine motor coordination, spatial concepts, and knowledge of shapes and colors.

Check out their hard work!
