1st and 5th Grade Buddies

Yesterday was the first time this year that our first graders met their fifth grade buddies. From the moment students walked into the classroom and saw buddies on the schedule, they could hardly wait for it to be time to head down to 5th grade. 

During our first meeting, students used the structure Fan and Pick to ask and answer get to know you questions with their buddy teams. This was a great opportunity for our first graders to not only learn about their fifth grade buddies, but also to learn a new structure. It was amazing to hear all the connections students were making with their buddies and the other students at their tables. By the end, some students were even brave enough to share with the whole group something that they learned about their buddy!

We look forward to building these buddy relationships all year long! Thursdays will definitely be a day to look forward to in first grade!
