Sixth graders continued to explore their current unit in science on: Earth's Changing Climate and Engineering. The focus of this lesson was to look at the causes of climate change to better understand how the hydroponic farming, that they will be doing in class, will contribute to a healthier climate.

Pear deck is a technology tool we were introduced to by our LRS. This tool is great for engaging your students with various instructional strategies. Here, you can see the students being assessed on their prior knowledge on weather versus climate. They shared their thinking with their groups by doing a continuous round robin. Overall, this tool is great for not only engaging your students, but also providing multiple methods for students to share their work. For example, they can type it out in a text box, draw, insert images, etc. to best fit their personal needs!
Lastly, students looked at climate change data to further explore how drastically it has changed throughout the years. The key takeaway was for them to understand the conditions and changes happening from the 1960s-present day and to come up with ways in which they can help prevent climate change from progressing.
