Frisbee Golf is a favorite of mine each year!
I set up a 9 hole course around the field for the 3rd-6th graders. We talk about Gold etiquette. Walking on the course, not shouting, being patient and waiting for you partner/group to take their turns. We also discuss who goes next - it does not have to be a perfect order, the person who is farthest away from the hole takes the next shot.
We also have score cards with par so the students have a goal of how many throws they want to try and get (plus they do a little math at the end to add up their scores!)
Throwing a frisbee is a little harder of a skill but I wanted to get my 1st and 2nd graders out on the course so they could have the experience of moving independently around with their group - so Yarn Ball Golf was born! All of the same rules applied but we were overhand and underhand throwing Yarn Balls around the course. I especially loved this because we talked about throwing harder when we were far away and throwing softer when we are closer. The kids had a blast and kept asking if we could play again!
