D for Disney Day

It's that time of year again! We have started our ABC Countdown at Goodrich that lasts until the end of the year. Every day for the last 26 days of school, we have spirit days to celebrate the awesome year that we've had. Some days are dress up days, some are creating things in class, and some are spent playing games together. Last week was one of my favorite days, D for Disney Day!

We did all of our normal work for the day, however, we just added some Disney magic to it. Our morning work was Disney themed, we watched a Disney story during snack time, and we played Disney music during writing time. I even showed students a short clip of a few of the rides so they could experience the Disney magic. Our favorite time, however, was at the end of the day.

A few of my students have been to Disney World, but many have not. If you have ever gone, you know that in order to enter the parks, you need a Magic Band, which acts as your park ticket. Each student took a few minutes to color and create their own Magic Band. After, we lined up in the hallway to "scan" our bands to enter the Magic Kingdom. Once inside, we sat on the carpet, and shared a special moment together. We watched the Disney firework show "Enchantment" together. This was super special to watch, and I’m glad we got to experience it together. The ABC Countdown provides us with so many special memories at the end of the school year! I love getting to still do our normal academics, but also have time for some fun activities that we wouldn’t normally get to do.
