With yesterday being 2/22/22, of course first graders had to do something fun for this special day! And it just so happens that these 1st graders will be in their senior year of high school when the date will be 3/3/2033. With that being said, my class made their own little time capsule to keep and open on 3/3/33. On the first page in the top half, they wrote their name, the date, what school they go to, the grade they’re in, and their teacher. Next to it, they drew a picture of what they looked like today.
On the second half of the first page, they drew a picture of what they thought they would look like in high school and then answered some questions about high school. At first, we had to brainstorm things we might want to do in high school. Some of them came up with ideas of playing a certain sport, meeting new people, or reading bigger books. Then, we talked about what they might do after high school. It was great to see all the ideas of what they might do after high school! Here are some examples of what students wrote:
The next page they filled in each bubble going along with things they like right now so they will be able to compare when they open these. They answered questions like favorite food, color, movie, and books! The last page they traced their hand so they would be able to see how their hand sizes would compare. They really had a blast with these time capsules, and I’m so excited for them to open them in 2033!
