Sneezy the Snowman

Ahh...chooo! Yesterday in 2nd grade we read a book called Sneezy the Snowman by Maureen Wright. Sneezy the Snowman is freezing and sneezing all throughout the book in the cold winter weather. He keeps trying to find ways to warm up, but every time he does, he melts!

As a class, we brainstormed a list of things that are hot and warm that would make snow melt. Here is the list of reasons we came up with that would make a snowman melt:

  • He went in the hot tub
  • He drank hot chocolate
  • He roasted marshmellows by a fire
  • He lit a candle
  • He went to the beach
  • He wore a sweater
  • He took a trip to the Sun

We then did a craft to make our melted snowmen. We mixed up glue and shaving cream to make melted snow, and put the snowman pieces on top to make it appear melted. Here are some of the results:

The 2nd graders had a blast with this activity! Have a great Winter Break everyone!
