How do you become the best third grader you can possibly be? By setting goals!
We discussed how everybody has some area that they would like to improve on-
whether it is academic or a social skill. One way to help get better at this is to
write your goal down and make a plan to achieve your goal.
We brainstormed at our tables first, then made a list of where we might need to
make improvements to have a successful first month of school. Many
students want to learn their multiplication facts--so they are going to
practice them nightly.
Others want to read fluently--so they are going to read for 20 minutes aloud
nightly as well. Finally, some students want to learn cursive and that takes a lot
of practice.
We decided to make a project out of our goals....so we made a pencil to write our
goals on...
We have our goals on display in our room so that we can be reminded of what
we want to achieve.
We will revisit them at the end of September to celebrate our progress!
