Welcome to Goodrich!

Yesterday afternoon and evening Goodrich hosted their annual pre-registration for incoming Kindergarten families.  Many of you may remember this exciting day for your own children! The official purpose of this event is an opportunity for parents to come in and fill out the paperwork necessary to begin the registration process.  More importantly though, the evening gives parents the chance to see their student's future school in person.

Between Mrs. Grucella, Mrs. Burzynski, Mrs. Gamez, and our kindergarten teachers we were ready to greet families, copy documents, and give tours of the building.  Some families come with children in tow, some alone, but all are eager to learn about the school and the classrooms their child will be a part of.  The experience can be overwhelming and full of nerves for many involved, and it's always great to put minds at ease by talking about our great school community.

Filling out paperwork though is no fun for the kids, and we make sure to provide some entertainment for them while parents answer all of the difficult questions.  This is one of my favorite aspects of pre-registration because it gives us a chance to chat with the students one-on-one or in a group of other kids.  They are fast to make friends with the other children and excited to share all about themselves.  Their enthusiasm for seeing our classrooms (especially our toys) is always a highlight.

While pre-registration is the beginning, there is still plenty of time for families to come in and get their child ready for kindergarten here at Goodrich.  If you know any neighbors with an incoming kindergartner, let them know they can register whenever they are ready!

Looking around my kindergarten classroom today it's hard to believe that our school year is almost over.  In just a few months a new group of students will fill my class!  It makes me sad to think of this wonderful year ending, but kindergarten registration makes me excited for what's to come.
