Leadership in Action

This week our students had an opportunity to see leadership in action as our students prepared to choose new students to lead them through student council. The purpose of student council is to give students an opportunity to develop leadership skills. The students who are chosen to lead the school will organize school activities as well as service projects that look at our greater community and their needs. They help to share student ideas, interests and concerns within the school community. Our student council has been active in raising funds for many of the natural disasters that have occurred in our country recently. From raising funds to personally doing good things for others, it is up to the student council to lead the way as role models for others.

It is time once again to choose who those student leaders will be. There were many who felt the call to lead. They began their quest with posters that lined the walls entreating others to vote for them with humor and humility.

Next came the speeches. Each student prepared a short speech to let the other students know why they should be the one to be elected. After the assembly the students went back to their classrooms to cast their votes. Four of these students will be chosen to represent the student body. Additional students will be chosen from each classroom to serve as representatives. How awesome that so many were willing to step up to serve!

Congratulations to our new leadership team; Ella, Spencer, Alex and Hailey! Thank you to all who offered to serve! We know your talents, caring and compassion will be put to good use in other ways in our school.
