As we enter into 2016,
resolutions are on everyone's mind. Unfortunately, too many times these
resolutions only last a few weeks and then we go back to our old routines. This
year, I wanted to ensure that the students had time to think about their own
resolutions and learn ways to stick to them. To make their resolution, students
reflected on goals that they had made earlier in the year, and adjusted their
goals to meet their current needs.
After looking back at
our goals that we made at the beginning of the year, we decided some still
pertained to our progress while some needed an adjustment. Using this
information, each student created an academic and behavior goal that will help
them grow during the second semester. We will continue checking in on these
goals to ensure that we are sticking to them.
In addition to making
goals to begin 2016, the students participated in Classbuilding and Teambuilding
activities to help reconnect with their classmates and re-establish our positive
classroom environment. Students spent time sharing about their break and getting
to know their new teammates.

By
starting off the New Year on the right foot, students are rejuvenated and feel
focused for the second half of the year. I’m looking forward to watching my
third graders continue to grow and mature.
