We all know
the old saying, “two heads are better than one.” In first grade, we spend a lot
of time working together with partners to solve math problems, predict science
experiment outcomes, and even to brainstorm writing topics. In order to have
the skills needed to work together, students need to practice good sportsmanship, teamwork and cooperation.
This week,
we took part in a team challenge. The challenge was to see which team could
make the tallest tower using…their shoes!
Before we got started with the actual challenge the students took turns sharing
a strategy/ idea that would help their team to be successful with this
challenge. The students were able to see
that communication and cooperation were two key pieces in the success of this
shoe tower. The students not only worked on these important teamwork
strategies, but they also had some really great results! Take a look
at some of the awesome ways the students tried their best to accept this
challenge!
This last picture shows the team that created the tallest tower. Great teamwork, everybody!
