Animal Research

We are currently in our non-fiction writing unit and second graders have been hard at work researching an animal of their choice. They first learned about researching with an online source, World Book Online. Next, students used a book from the library to practice researching from a text source. 

Now that their research is complete, students have begun to write! Each student will write a 5-7 chapter book about their animal detailing all they have learned. Each chapter will be focused on a different element they researched. So far they have finished their introduction and learned new ways to write a hook. In a few weeks, they will have a finished book to teach others all about their animal and will even have a chance to publish their book online through Book Creator! I can’t wait to see the finished products!
