Goodrich Parade!

In preparation for Thanksgiving break, 2nd graders worked with their 4th grade buddies to create their own balloon float for our school parade. As a whole class we read the book Balloons Over Broadway and looked at balloon float ideas. The 2nd graders were responsible for coming up with an idea and drawing a picture of what they wanted their balloon to look like. After coming up with an idea, they were given a balloon and had to execute their plan with their 4th grade buddy. The kids had a lot of fun working with their buddies to create their balloon.  This activity involved collaboration, patience, creativity, and determination.

The next day 2nd graders were able to show off their hard work by participating in a school parade. Each grade lined up outside of their classroom to watch the 2nd and 4th graders hold up their balloons and walk down the hallways. This activity is something that every kid looks forward to. Once our 2nd graders are in 4th grade they will come back to help their 2nd grade buddy create their perfect balloon.
