Second Grade Habitat Scientists

Second graders have begun a new science unit, Plant and Animal Relationships. Throughout this unit, they are working to solve a problem at the Broadleaf Forest in India: Why are new Chalta Trees not growing?

In this lesson, students learned about sample sites and then created one at school with their group. They had to pick an area of the ground to observe, draw, and label. Next, we will look at a sample site from the Broadleaf Forest in India. Students will have many more hands-on lessons until they come up with an answer to the Chalta Tree problem.
