MLS Writing, Read Alouds and Soft Starts

In Fourth grade DEB we are working on all the language domains (R,W,S,L) for short and extended texts.  We are currently in the pre writing stage for the article " Exercise."  Now that we have completed bubble maps, we will review the importance of Introduction Sentences and begin to write our complete paragraphs.

In Second grade DEB we welcomed two new students to our school and small group. We enjoyed the read aloud "The Big Umbrella" and talked about the importance of making sure everyone feels included. Students illustrated the story and wrote sentences with suggestions on how to include others.

In Kindergarten, we start off our sessions with a short soft start.  During this soft start, we learn and practice early English speaking and comprehension skills in a very low stress setting.  Some of the phrases practiced are:  Can I please have a (insert color & tool), I made a (crown, bike, flower, butterfly etc), Do you like.....?, I like your .......
