Spring

Finally, it feels a little more like Spring!  We have been discussing Spring weather, but this year there have not been great examples yet.  This week, not only did we get a couple beautiful Spring days, we also have rain.  Students shared their ideas for what they would do on a rainy day.  Some students love to go outside and playing in the mud and jump in puddles, while other students would prefer to go to a movie or stay inside to play board games.  No matter what the response, students have begun planning for actual Spring weather... not snow!

Kindergartners love their 6th grade learning buddies, and we excitedly took on a Spring craft.  We started by cutting out the outline of an umbrella twice and two little boots.  Then, we used water colors to paint one umbrella and the boots.  As those were drying, we wrote "On a rainy day, I..." on the other umbrella piece.  Next, we assembled the pieces to make it look as if a person is hiding behind the umbrella, but all you can see are the boots.  When you open the flap, the students writing is displayed.

We had so much fun creating these crafts, and now we have some ideas of how to plan for Spring weather.  Let's just hope we get more and more Spring weather!
