In kindergarten, we are excited to begin our animal research
projects. We are fortunate to have
wonderful 6th grade learning buddies that have helped us throughout
the year. When first planning for our
animal projects, kindergarteners and 6th graders worked together to
decide on an animal that the kindergartener would like to research. That day, they found a book on their animal
and read it together. The 6th
graders did a fantastic job helping the kindergarteners to read their books and
learn about their animals.
Next week, we will continue our research by gathering and
recording more information about our animals’ habitat, nourishment, physical
attributes, and a variety of other fun facts.
After collecting this information, they will begin to write and
illustrate a report on their specific animal.
Students will have the opportunity to share their report with their
classmates.
The knowledge that we have gained through our research and
sharing will be a rewarding and fun experience, but it will not even compare to
the excitement we will have when taking our field trip to Brookfield Zoo on May
27th! Students will be able
to explore the zoo with their buddies and see the animal they researched up
close.
