The purpose of Student Council is to bring new and interesting ideas to Goodrich. The Student Council does a lot to add something extra for the students. For example, we do service projects, spirit days, and fundraisers. We also help the PTO by spreading the word about their events. For example, the PTO’s Read-a-Thon is coming soon. It will be held April 17th through April 21st. The Read-a-Thon is a great money maker for them and a fun event for all of the students of Goodrich School. A note will be in today’s Friday folder about this event.
This year the Student Council will be collecting for the What If foundation. It is a foundation that raises money to feed starving children in Haiti. The Student Council decided to sponsor this foundation because we eat more than three times a day and don’t even think twice about it, but we never think of the kids who don’t have the choice to even eat once a day. We decided we wanted to give back to the kids who are less fortunate than us. This service project will take place at the end of April and beginning of May. Look for information to come in a few weeks. http://whatiffoundation.org/
We have also collected food for the food pantry this year. Our turkey was quite stuffed!
Just yesterday we had another Spirit Day. It was sports day. Students wore all kinds of jerseys to represent all kinds of sports teams. Our past Spirit Days this year and in other years have been Twin Day, Crazy Hair Day, Pajama Day, Favorite Color Day, etc. In May, we will be having Stuffed Animal Day. Spirit days help to bring more spirit to the students of Goodrich School.
It has been such a fun experience being a part of Student Council this year. We appreciate the support from the students, the PTO, and our sponsors, Mrs. Trabilsy and Mrs. Schneider. If you have a great idea for Student Council, make sure you let your reps know about it.
